Principal's Message
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve our community as principal of Yorkshire Elementary School for the past six years. As I begin my seventh year, I am excited about starting the school year and look forward to providing our children and their families with a warm, friendly and safe school environment. The staff at Yorkshire has high expectations for our students which will prepare them to become successful members of society in the 21st century.
Hall of Fame Redskin brings hall of fame attitude to Yorkshire Elementary
On September 28th, Hall of Fame cornerback Darrell Green was the guest speaker at Yorkshire Elementary's Positive Climate Community Dinner. Speaking to an audience of over 200 people Mr. Green emphasized how a positive attitude is the key to success. On October 4, 2011 35 fourth and fifth grade Yorkshire students began a musical journey that will hopefully last a life time. These students will be part of the first Elementary School Band in PWC. The band supported solely by private donations and a $5000 grant from SPARK written by librarian Tanya Parrott will be under the direction of Rachel Kauffman and John Wilson. The students want to thank all the people who donated funds to make this dream a reality. School Bus Expectations
Riding the school bus is a privilege, not a right. Behavioral issues on the bus will be handled in a timely manner to ensure the safety of all students. Bus procedures are listed in Regulation 433-1, which can be found under “Policies and Regulations” on the Prince William Public Schools website (www.pwcs.edu). Please review the regulation with your children to make sure they understand appropriate bus behavior. Together we will provide all our students a safe environment in which to travel to and from school.
Washington Redskin Rocky McIntosh Reaches Out to Yorkshire Elementary School
Washington Redskin linebacker Rocky McIntosh and his wife Aleisha have donated thousands of dollars of school supplies to support the teachers and students of Yorkshire and ease the financial burden on our families. We are extremely fortunate to receive this support and are very thankful for this generous donation.Costco
We would like to extend special thanks to Costco of Manassas for donating 250 backpacks to our students.
Business Partnership Continues to Expand
As we enter the second year of our partnership with Grace Covenant Church, we are very excited by the number of activities we have planned throughout the school year.

During the month of August church members filled over 150 backpacks with grade-specific supplies. Youth Pastor Kore Bendix is the driving force behind the partnership. We are so thankful for all the church does for our students and staff.
Girls on the Run (GOTR)
Mark your calendars, Parents: Girls on the Run registration is here! This exciting 9-week program uses the power of running to help prepare girls in grades 3-5 for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Lace up your running shoes girls as you train together to run a 5k race held on November 20 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, VA. Practices are led by GOTR NOVA trained coaches Ms. Ramirez, Mrs. Dennis, Ms. Marshall and Mrs. Berry. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45 p.m. at the school from the last week of September until the last week of November. Visit the Girls on the Run web site in late August for registration and fee information at www.gotrnova.org Don’t miss out – online registration will start September 1st!!
